1 – Coaching’s too expensive and doesn’t offer good value for money…
If you get that new job you’re after… or that promotion… how much is that worth to you and your family?
It could easily amount to thousands, maybe tens of thousands over the years.
Who knows, it could be worth even more than that!
Just think of the ways you could use that extra income to create memories and adventures with your loved ones.
Looking at it this way, coaching can definitely be viewed as a very sound investment.
What price do you put on your happiness and the happiness of those around you?
I’m not sure I’m able to put a price on that, but anything that creates more happiness has to be worth looking into.
What value do you put on your own health and fitness?
Staying fit, or getting fit again, will not only improve your quality of life, it will also give you the energy to perform better and achieve more.
How much more could you achieve with a more positive mindset?
One of the first things I work on with clients is their mindset…
If that’s not in the right place, nothing else we do together will ever work!
Once you start to become more positive and more determined to see things through, you’ll achieve so much more in your life…
Your own personal growth…
Your career or company…
Your relationships with family and friends
Your health and fitness…
Your financial independence.
And any other area of your life you want to work on.
What do you think?
Is coaching too expensive?
Does it represent a good return on investment?
Let me know in the comment box below…
2 – How do I know we’ll be a good fit?
How do I know whether we’ll gel or not?
I guess that’s the same with anyone we employ, work with or go to for a service…
And it’s a very important question, because relationships with the people we spend our lives with are massively important.
For instance…
I hate having my hair cut.
There are a number of reasons for that, but #1 is that I really dislike the itching caused by the hair that gets down my back…
Look…
I know it’s petty and I should be able to cope better with it…
But it gets to me, right!
And I have to get home and shower as soon as I can.
So, to make the process better, I searched and searched until I found someone to cut my hair that I really bonded with…
That way, I could start to enjoy the process instead of dreading it…
Even though I still have to get home for that shower!
So, how do you know if we’ll be a good fit?
Well… until we talk, you don’t!
That’s why I offer 2 FREE sessions to start with… so we can both decide if this is for us, or not.
The first session is a 30-minute call, when you can ask any questions you want…
And so can I…
It’s like that initial conversation when you meet someone for the first time…
And you want to find out as much as you can about them in the shortest possible time!
If we both like each other and want to take things a step further…
We’ll set up a second free session…
This time for 60-90 minutes…
To make absolutely sure that we’re a good fit for each other.
Only after those two sessions, will you have to decide whether or not you want to hire me as your coach…
And it’s then that I decide if I want to work with you.
3 – How can you understand my problems, if you haven’t been through what I’ve been through yourself?
This is possibly the question I’ve been asked most by prospective clients…
And it was something I was often asked by students that I taught…
And it’s also often the #1 question I get when starting coaching with students in school.
In many ways, it’s a strange question…
Because we don’t expect Doctors to have been through every illness or condition known to mankind, when we go to them to be diagnosed…
But we still trust them to have the knowledge and skills to do the job properly!
I could list many other professions and occupations, where the people dealing with us, certainly haven’t been through everything the treat us for.
So, whatever the situation I’m in…
Whoever I’m talking to…
The answer’s always the same…
Actually, I don’t need to have to been through what you’ve been through to coach you…
I don’t even need to understand your problems to coach you…
I just have to be able to help you understand your problems better than you do now.
That way, I’ll be able to help you deal with your own problems…
So you can move forward, positively to be more successful and happier than you are now.
You see…
I’m not your advisor.
I’m not here to direct you…
Or even guide you.
My job is to help you have insights…
Insights about yourself…
What makes you tick…
What you want out of life…
What you want to achieve.
I’m here to help you create a mindset that will take you forward to where you want to be.
If I advise you, I’ll be guiding you to where I think you should be going…
And that’s not what coaching’s all about…
At least…
It’s not when I coach.
Having said that, I’ve probably been through many of the problems you’ve encountered in your life…
So I do have some insights into what you may be going through right now.
I came through school as an incredibly shy child…
Changed career from teacher…
To computer programmer…
To analyst programmer…
To IT consultant…
To web designer…
Running my own company…
Teaching again…
To Life Coach, entrepreneur and course creator…
And this is where I stay!
I’ve also survived an incredibly acrimonious divorce!
But none of what I’ve gone through will really help me to help you…
Because…
Your divorce will be different to mine…
The people in your life aren’t the people in my life…
Your desires are different to mine…
Your personality is different to mine.
However…
What my life experiences do give me…
As an understanding that life can be tough…
Really tough.
It also helps me to understand that change isn’t always easy…
Or desirable.
But change is important if we’re to grow.
And that’s my job as a coach…
To help you grow…
And to help you achieve…
What you want to achieve…
Not what I think you should be aiming to achieve.
4 – Coaching Doesn’t Work… It’s Just a Fad!
Like every profession, there are good and bad practitioners…
And there are good and bad training companies too.
I trained with The Coaching Academy – The UK’s leading company for training coaches and a well-respected company throughout the coaching industry.
The point I’m making here, is simply that some people will undoubtedly have a bad experience of coaching…
If they’ve hired a bad coach…
Or a coach that’s not a good fit for them.
There will be others that undoubtedly have a had a very positive experience of coaching and benefited massively from working with their coach.
There’s plenty of support for coaching to be found in research documents…
Most of which can be easily found on the internet:
The ICF (International Coach Federation) states…
“…people that have worked with business and personal life coaches have found:
- greater levels of self-awareness;
- better goal setting techniques;
- more balance in life;
- improved levels of self-discovery
- better quality of life.
And much, much more. Indeed, life coaching statistics are 100% positive, with thousands of men and women all over the world finding that working with a life and business coach has the potential to drastically improve the way they live their lives.”
A recent survey of people who had been coached stated that:
70% of them found coaching “very valuable” and 28.5% found it “valuable”.
So, doing the maths for you, 98.5% of people who were coached have benefited considerably from the process.
There are very few other professions, if any, that have anywhere near the same levels of satisfaction as coaching.
In the same survey, people attributed the following outcomes to coaching:
- 67.6% higher level of self-awareness
- 62.4% smarter goal-setting
- 60.5% more balanced life
- 57.1% lower stress levels
- 52.9% self-discovery
- 52.4% more self-confidence
- 43.3% improvement in quality of life
- 39.5% enhanced communication skills
- 35.7% project completion
- 33.8% health or fitness improvement
- 33.3% better relationship with staff
- 33.33% better family relationships
- 31.9% increased energy
- 31.9% more fun
- 25.7% more income
- 25.7% stopped a bad habit
- 24.3% change in career
- 22.9% more free time
Now, there’s some pretty important stuff in that list…
That would undoubtedly improve the quality of life of the person being coached!
And one final quote…
“50% of people confide in their coach as much as their best friend, spouse or therapist, 12% confide in their coach more than anyone else.”
That level of trust isn’t found within many other professions.
So, does coaching work?
Yes, it does.
However, there are some things you need to do, before you hire your coach…
- Talk to them
- Have a free session, or sessions, with them
- Then decide if you want to work with them
It’s that simple.
Don’t bother with testimonials.
I’ve seen far too many fake ones in my time.
There’s no doubt they could be fabricated…
And also, a coach’s success with another client, or clients, doesn’t mean they’ll be successful with you.
You have to feel comfortable with them.
You have to be the right fit…
The perfect fit…
They have to prove to you, in your free session(s), that they can help you move forward with whatever it is you want to improve or change in your life.
Simple as that.
5 – I don’t need anybody else to help me
Maybe not…
But if that’s the case…
Why are you here on this page?
Stop wasting your time…
Get out of here…
And start taking action to change whatever it is you want to change!
Now, I hope that doesn’t come across as rude…
But seriously…
If you can sort out all of your issues by yourself…
Just go and do it…
And create the fantastic life you deserve and desire! 😉
6 – Coaching’s for people with problems
No!
Absolutely not!
Coaching’s for people who want to move forward with any aspect of their life…
Or multiple aspects…
And want to do it with more certainty…
And more speed…
Than they ever could achieve on their own.
Look…
Coaching can certainly be a massive help for people struggling with things such as…
Anxiety…
Stress…
Phobias…
Money problems…
Career problems…
Relationship issues…
And many, many more.
And fantastic results can be achieved to help people get back to a problem-free and much happier existence.
However, coaching also helps massively where people want to move on from a position of strength…
To achieve even more.
Top athletes and sports people use coaches to help increase performance levels to new heights.
Business owners and managers use coaches to improve working practices and profits.
Executives use coaches to help them find the next job to advance their careers.
Again…
The list goes on…
Hopefully you get my point.
Coaching is about helping people move forward with their lives…
Positively…
Purposefully…
With clarity…
With confidence…
No matter where they are right now.
So…
Where are you right now?
Are you where you want to be?
If not…
What are you going to do about it?
7 – I’ve tried to change before, but I just keep falling back into my old routines
I could write a book on this question alone…
Now there’s a thought! 😉
That’s simply human nature…
Life becomes comfortable…
Generally speaking, we like routines…
We like to stay within our comfort zone…
But…
To change…
To create lasting change…
We have to step out of our comfort zones.
And that’s something we find difficult to do.
Also…
We spend a lot of time living in fear…
Worrying…
Stressed…
And anxious…
Dealing with negativity from others.
On top of that…
We have our own self-doubts to deal with!
And that’s where coaching helps massively…
Ensuring you’re able to manage the doubts of others…
And your own self-doubts.
Helping you to step out of your comfort-zone…
And reach new heights.
So…
If you’ve tried to change before…
With limited success…
Or even no success at all…
Take on the sort of coach that will ensure you don’t back-slide.
8 – I’m uncoachable!
I just want to do it my way…
And you’ll just interfere.
Well…
It’s my job to interfere…
Not with what you want…
But with how you think and what you’re thinking.
That doesn’t mean I’ll advise you to take a route you don’t want to take…
It just means I’ll help you to think around your issues…
To think through any actions you want to take…
And to start to go deeper into yourself…
Consider the way you think…
And the way you solve your problems.
My job isn’t to advise you or to change you…
My job is to help you understand yourself…
To get you to ask yourself…
“Why do I do what I do?
And to help you understand why you want to move forward in the way you’re planning.
There comes a point in everybody’s life…
When they need help and support…
But family and friends are either too close…
Or simply unable to help.
That’s where coaching comes in…
That’s where I come in.
