The 7 Pillars of True Wealth: Happiness Is The Key To Success… Not The Other Way Around!

by Keith Jones - May 12, 2025

“Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success.” Albert Schweitzer

This quote perfectly sums up happiness.

It turns the normal idea of what happiness is on its head.

Because...

Happiness isn’t something that just happens.

It’s not something you earn by working harder, doing more, or achieving more.

It’s not simply the absence of sadness.

Happiness is the foundation of real success.

Think about it...

When you’re genuinely happy:

  • You make better decisions.
  • You have more energy.
  • You bounce back from setbacks faster.
  • You’re attract people – They want to work with you, support you, spend time with you.

Furthermore…

Happiness isn’t just a feeling.

It’s a catalyst for growth…

A momentum builder…

That impacts every other part of your life.

Happiness Isn’t What Most People Think It Is…

  • Being inherently cheerful and optimistic
  • Having the perfect home life
  • Having very few problems to deal with
  • Getting that promotion at work, you’ve been aiming for

Happiness isn’t about some big dream coming true…

Some big achievement…

It doesn’t just happen by chance, either.

It’s created by simple, easy things we do every day…

And it’s destroyed just as easily by the things we don’t do.

Put simply…

Happiness isn’t something you pursue.

It’s something you do.

Or…

Perhaps, more accurately…

It’s created by a lot of things you do

Day in…

And day out.

And not necessarily big things…

A lot of little things.

Happiness is the result of performing some simple…

Daily actions.

Like…

Choosing gratitude instead of frustration…

Taking a walk instead of scrolling through social media…

Spending time with people who bring some fun into your life, not drain you…

Pausing to notice the beauty or peace around you, instead of simply walking past.

Happiness isn’t just about what you do…

It’s also about what you don’t do.

Not comparing yourself to others…

Not letting small setbacks ruin your day…

Not saying “yes” to things you should say “no” to…

Not letting the news or social media dictate how you feel.

Put simply…

Your happiness…

Is in your control.

And here’s a simple thing you can do to start taking control…

A simple way to be happy…

Starting today…

The “3 Good Things” Exercise

At the end of every day…

Write down 3 things that went well.

They don’t have to be big…

It could be something like…

A few kind words from a friend…

The smell of fresh coffee in the morning (that works for me! 😁)…

Finishing a task you’d been putting off or not enjoying.

To get started...

Buy yourself a nice journal, so this becomes something you look forward to doing...

Something you attach importance to.

And as you write...

Add some extra notes about other things that went well...

And add the reasons why you think they went well.

And...

Each morning...

Start to write down three things you’re thankful for.

Again…

It doesn’t have to be anything major…

Small things work just as well as big ones!

Start to add in things you’re looking forward to.

This simple process of writing down the things that are good in your life…

Will bring a smile to your face…

Will make you feel good on the inside…

Feel more optimistic…

Happier!

And this isn’t just a nice idea…

A made-up activity…

If you do this regularly…

Daily…

Consistently…

It’s been proven to boost happiness…

Reduce stress…

And increase overall well-being.

It’s a simple shift in attitude and behaviour…

One that creates…

A powerful ripple effect…

One that…

Builds momentum…

And increases happiness.

Give it a try.

You’ll notice a change in just a few short days.

Here’s a reminder of that quote at the start of today’s newsletter…
